Spring Cleaning

Hello everyone!

Even though we just posted that there'll be no MUA Meeting during the term break.

We'll actually be having a Spring Cleaning of our clubroom. ((:

Date: 18 Dec to 19 Dec 2008 (Thursday & Friday)

Venue: Room E420 (MUA's Clubroom)

The time it'll end is not confirmed but it may end at around 4pm or 5pm. Yup!

On the 2nd day (19 Dec), we may take a trip down to IKEA Tampines to get some stuff.
We'll confirm the details again on 18 Dec.

Camp for Low Income Families' Children

Hello everyone!

Nanyang Polytechnic will be organising a 2 day camp for children served by the Life Community Services Society. This organisation helps children whose parents are incarcerated or children from low income families.

This is a non-residential camp to be held in Nanyang Polytechnic (mainly around Blk E) from Monday to Tuesday, 22nd - 23rd December 2008. The objective of holding the camp is for our students to share their talents and time with these children from less privileged background.

You will need to be with the kids the whole day and plan for 22nd Dec games! ((:

Mrs June Tham has devoted more than 20 years to the education of children with special needs. Mrs Tham joined the Margaret Drive Special School as its Principal and Executive Director in 1989. The school came under the umbrella of Rainbow Centre (RC) in 1992 when the latter was founded.

Rainbow Centre (RC) is a voluntary welfare organisation with a mission to enhance the quality of life of children with special needs through education and training to enable them to achieve their fullest potential.

Mrs Tham spearheaded the growth of RC by developing two purpose-built special schools, expanding the early intervention programme to serve more children. She also started the Training & Consultancy Unit to train teachers, professionals and parents.


Mr Adrian Yap
Winner of The Amazing Race Asia Season 2

Adrian’s innate hearing disability has not stopped him from being a high achiever. In the recent “The Amazing Race Asia Season 2”, Adrian and his partner emerged the winners, proving that his disability does not get in his way.

Apart from his thirst for challenges, Adrian also enjoys picking up different languages. He is also an ardent fan of ancient Chinese and Asian history.

Chingay Parade 2009

This is again last minute information, I really apologise. The reason is because I only heard about this on the 29 of Oct.

Anyway.

Have anyone of you ever thought of being part of Asia's Grandest Street & Float Parade?

CHINGAY PARADE 2009 IS HERE!

The Peoples Association Youth Movement (PAYM) has invited Nanyang Polytechnic to go onboard the PAYM float contingent in the 'Youth @ Wonderland' segment in Chingay Parade Singapore 2009 – Wonderland.

To tie in with the broad Chingay theme, the concept of the PAYM float is about young insects and creatures living together in harmony in a garden. The performers will be dressed as larger-than-life insects and will expect a stunning and impressive choreography.

The Chingay Parade Singapore 2009 – Wonderland will be held along the roads from City Hall to Raffles Avenue on Friday, 30 January 2009, 8.30pm to 10.00pm and on Saturday, 31 January 2009, 8.00pm to 9.30pm.

The tentative training schedule is as follows (subjected to further confirmation)
November 2008: 15th, 22nd & 29th
December 2008: 6th, 12th & 20th
January 2009: 3rd & 7th

Full Dress Rehearsal: 10th Jan 2009
Combined Rehearsals: 14th, 15th & 16th Jan 2009
Chingay Preview: 30th Jan 2009
Actual Chingay Parade: 31st Jan 2009

There's even a chance to hear some pointers about make-up from professional make-up artistes! Don't miss out the opportunity!

It is a great chance to even meet new friends and get up to 4 CCA points! Most importantly, you may appear on international TV! ;DD
